Add a Payment Method

Enter the My Account Section and click on the Billing option.

Now you are able you to define your payment method as well as your selected currency (if you have already defined a payment method, you can edit it, change it or add alternative payment methods). This way you will be able to perform any possible transactions with MarineTraffic.

The first thing you should do is to fill in the information needed in the form that pops-up upon clicking on the Edit Billing Details button. Make sure that the billing information you provide MarineTraffic with is correct and up-to-date to be getting accurate printable invoices for each transaction.

Note: If you are an EU (European Union) resident, please make sure to provide the correct VAT (Value-added tax) identification number of your company. By providing your company name and VAT, you will not be charged the standard VAT rate.

Clicking on the Add new Payment Method will result in having a defined payment method so that you will not have to repeat the same process in the future (unless, of course, you wish to change the payment method, edit the existing one or add more payment methods). This way, any possible upcoming transaction will be performed fast.

On the pop-up window that appears, select between using a Credit Card, PayPal or Wire Transfer as your payment method.

 

  • Credit Card

Click on the Credit Card icon if you wish to perform your transactions with MarineTraffic using a Credit Card.

Fill in the required information as shown on your Credit Card and click on the Add and make default payment method button. Your payment method is now saved and defined as your default method. You can use any Credit Card under the auspices of one of the following companies:

  • Visa 
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • JCB

Note that you can add more than one Credit Card as a possible payment method.

 

  • PayPal

Click on the PayPal icon if you wish to perform your transactions with MarineTraffic using PayPal.

Enter your PayPal credentials to log in to your PayPal account and manage your transactions from there.

 

  • Wire Transfer

Click on the Wire Transfer icon to manage your transactions offline. You will be asked to provide MarineTraffic with your billing details (or confirm them if you have already done so). After this step, you will receive a proforma invoice with payment instructions within the next business day. As soon as the respective payment will be made, the transaction will be completed.

 

Note that MarineTraffic will never ask you to reveal any kind of personal details regarding any of your payment methods (your card's pin number, for example). The handling of credit cards' information is taken very seriously at MarineTraffic. For this reason, we use Braintree which is a validated Level 1 PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) Compliant Service Provider.

Also, note that for as long as you have an active subscription, your selected currency will be bound to the subscription's currency. Thus, you will not be able to change it before your active subscription expires.
