MarineTraffic Mobile App Updates

The latest updates for both Android (version 3.4.0) and iOS (version 3.4.1) mobile devices are now available!

Let's have a look at the exciting new features and functions that they have to offer:

 

Photo Upload

You can now upload your own photos of maritime interest to the MarineTraffic Photo Directory directly from your mobile device!

Multi-purpose button

Tap and hold this button on the Main Menu to select the desired funcionality of it, perform certain actions or access the in-app tools in no time!

 

View vessel icons according to their actual length

Vessel icons can be displayed according to the actual length of the corresponding vessels - Small (vessels up to 80m long), Normal (80-150m), Large (vessels longer than 150m). This way, you can get an idea of any vessel's size at a glance!

 

Cruise Mode

The Cruise Mode replaces the pre-existing "Center Lock" option and makes your vessel the focal point of the App. Track your position, speed and course as well as the positions of other vessels around you. Project your course and get the distance of nearby vessels in relation to your position!

 

Route-Planner (in-app purchase)

  • Record your tracks

Launch the Route Planner tool and tap on the "Record" icon to enter Cruise Mode and record your vessel's track. Save it for further analysis or future reference.

  • Import/Export routes (in .gpx format)

Use the "File" icon to manage your routes. Tap on the "import/export" button to import routes to the MarineTraffic App or export your saved routes!

 

More Options / Interface Improvements

It goes without saying that all of the above-mentioned changes are bundled with a set of relevant changes to the interface and the available options in the menus. Thus, you can interact with the MarineTraffic application with ease and efficiency!

    Some iOS app users have reported that the GPS stays on in the background even when the app is not running.
    We are currently looking into this issue and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

    I am a long-time Marine Traffic user who has been using the app for several years. I have noticed that the new app is not an updated version, but a completely new app, requiring a new purchase (at least on iOS). Is this correct? Seems unfair to long-time users that it is not an automatic upgrade.

    My purchased app is not receiving data from you. So no longer works.
    Why is this?
    Do I have to make another purchase to keep connected?
    As Iv already purchased your app, will the update download for free?
    Or will I have to pay again

    Your apps is no longer top of line with new updates.
    Ver very poor apps now.i give you 1on 5.
