World Port Hackathon will be happening this weekend in the Port of Rotterdam and MarineTraffic is delighted to be a co-organiser of the event.
MarineTraffic is keen to support the many young coders who will attend the hackathon and we will be providing API data gathered by our extensive network of AIS-receivers.
The data, accessible via an open API endpoint, will include information on vessels’ current status, locations and details (such as dimensions and gross tonnage) along with historical route information, all via vessels’ MMSI numbers.
Participants will be able to use this data to develop innovative services for the maritime ecosystem, with a particular focus on ports.
MarineTraffic staff will be attending the hackathon to talk with young coders, mentor, give advice on data use and speak at breakout seminars being held at the event.
We look forward to seeing our data along with datasets provided by other World Port Hackathon partners being used for fresh innovation to make ports safer and more efficient hubs of commerce.
If working with real time data, in high-performance applications, is something you tinker with, you came to the right place!
