Change of yacht name - still showing previous name on database
Hi
The name has been changed from Boxcar to Fox Out The Box by a B&G Engineer on the AIS box on the Vessel. This changed was made today 29/3/23.
Do we need to do anything else in order to get Marine Traffic to show the new name or will it change automatically in the database?
For info the MMSI and Call sign have not been changed.

Dear Mike,
Thank you for your post!
Kindly be advised that, as you may know, MarineTraffic relies on the AIS protocol to receive and provide vessel related info and positions to our users. This means that in order to change the vessel's name, it needs to be updated within the vessel's transponder settings, as I can see you have already done. Please note that, afterwards, since we need to receive both static signals and positions from the vessel, the transponder will need to be kept active for a couple of days, so as for it to be transmitting the signals.
Rest assured that, as soon as our antennae collect the necessary amount of signals and positions, the new name and any other details will be automatically updated in our database.
Please note that the vessel will need to be located in an area within our Terrestrial AIS coverage.
(You can check our coverage with these instructions:
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I will be happy to assist you with any further needs you may have.
Kind regards,
