    Dear Robert,

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I can currently see that your vessel's latest position was received at 8 hours, 15 minutes ago (2017-08-07 06:34 (UTC)) via terrestrial means and she was located in DUNKERQUE NEPTUNE, FR.

Can you please confirm if this position is accurate?
Could you also please tell me if you have located more than one incorrect positions for her?

    Thank you in advance.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

Dunkerque is correct. We have had this problem before but I don't check regularly to see previous errors.
Perhaps I will now set up an alert and see.

    Dear Robert,

    Thank you for your response.

I can see one more position and port call in Dover, UK.
Is this an incorrect one, like Cowes?

If so, please let me know so that I can escalate your case in order to delete the incorrect positions.

    Thank you in advance.
    Awaiting your future response.

    Kind regards,

    Thank you.

However, have you any idea how these arose, especially given that this has happened previously. And have you put any measures in place to prevent it happening again?

    Dear Robert,

    Thank you for your response.

From what we could see, these positions were actually positions your AIS transponder had transmitted and which were received through our AIS receivers, but they were attributed to your vessel later than they were received, which is why the date was different.

This is likely an issue with the receiver(s) in the area. We are vigilant about the accuracy of the information we receive and our system has been designed not to allow incorrect information to appear. The filters we have created rely on the speed of the vessel recorded so far, relevance to previous positions, particularly during a specific journey, as well as other technical information in order to allow the most accurate information to be displayed in our website.
However, in the event that a few positions do manage to pass through out of the thousands our system filters through every day, we always make sure to look into the issue in order to remove them and resolve it accordingly.

As such, if at any point you notice any such inconsistency, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I will be glad to assist.

    Kind regards,
