    Hi again

    Thanks for Your private email.

But I think that because I made my question in public space, also the reply should be public.

I'm sure that other voters should also have the right to see the reply.

I'm not the only one facing so many  problems with the voting....daily.

    Dear Tero,

    Thank you for your response.

Please note that the private reply was for the benefit of any information you might have wanted to share with us.

I appreciate the time, effort you have invested in us and your patience with this so far.
I also understand that this can hinder your experience in our website.

Our Photographer community is an aspect of our website we are most proud of.
When we say that our technical department is working on this, it is because they are working on this, alongside other things, such as new features we would like to offer to our users.
I cannot account for the difficulty of the correction, however I do know that the issue is intermittent, so it is taking more time than expected to resolve it.

My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If at any point you experience this issue with other photographers, would you please provide me with the Photo ID of the picture and the rating you tried to vote for?

    Thank you in advance.
I remain at your disposal for any further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Bonsoir,

    Bonjour Evely.

I asked  Mr. Google's help in translating Your comment from french to english:

We have seen for a while a lot of communication about photos and votes for these photos.

We believed that MarineTraffic is a "Maritime" site and that the photos are only a small addition to the site and not that navigation comes second.

For this we ask you to make a priority to all that relates to the navigation and not to the photograph

There exists in the world enough specialized website for photography enthusiasts.

If you make it a priority and put your energy into broadcasting the exact maritime information to the browsers - Thanks -Evelyne

    May I  comment Your comment:

First of all, You say We believed. Are You representing a group or are You just speaking for Yourself ?

You say that photos are only a small addition to the site. You are absolutely wrong. There are 2350048 ( = over two millions) photos

in the photo gallery and that really is worth of something.

I think Marinetraffic is for everybody who is interested about ships, You don't have to own a ship or row boat to have benefit about MT.

But if You have a ship, or Your neighbor has, You may see the photo of this ship in MT photo gallery. Or You may read about some boat accident

far away from Your home waters and in that same paper there is a photo of the ship in question......and surprise, surprise...the photo may be from

    MT gallery.

You ( We ?) ask for priority. If You have followed these bug reports about photos, You must have noticed that the fixing of this voting bug has a very low priority.

I have reported about bugs for months, over a year, but the bug has not been fixed. .

I know that the photos are not the moneymakers for MT but I see the photos play a very important role for  MT and its followers.

    Regards TeroS ( a ship photographer ).

    Dear Tero,

Thank you for your kind response and assistance.

We consider this issue of high priority and we are, and have been, working on it.

It is taking a bit of time because we need to ensure we can reproduce the issues in order to resolve them and ensure that inconsistencies will not occur in the future as well.

We really do appreciate your patience and understanding so far.

I remain at your disposal for anything else in the meantime.

    Kind regards,

    Dear Evelyne,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

As our support is provided in English, I will need to respond in English to you.

Our website offers our users multiple services and features which improve our user experience. Our Photo Gallery is one of them and we are proud both of our collection and our photographers that are contributing to it.

As such, an issue with our Photo Gallery and voting system is one we are going to look into, irrespective of how long it will take, as it is important to us to resolve it.
In the same way, any issue you are facing is also important to us.

Since you mention navigation, would you please be kind enough to tell me if you are facing a particular issue or have a particular suggestion for our website?

    Thank you in advance.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Kind regards,

I sympathize with MT on the problems encountered with the photo submissions from all types of uploaders.  Tero has been putting a lot of emphasis on moderator voting of late and the inability to vote as expected.  I and others feel that the whole voting system should be scrapped.  It has from day one been nothing more than a farce and an irritant.  A complete waste of resources.  A lot of voting has become meaningless.  What I would like to see is a simple thumbs up icon for the very good ones and a number beside it to show how many approved.  Simple is as simple does.  No one need get overly excited about a complex, error prone system.  Please give this some consideration.  Thanks.

Hi Donald, nice to hear from You.

I also sympathize with MT, but I still can't figure out how can it be so difficult to correct the voting system.

To me it is just the same if my fotos get 5 stars or one thumb up. Most important is, that if MT has any kind of system for those who look for photos and want

to show they like them, also have an opportunity to show it.  Wether You push stars or thumbs, pushing should reply with a green banner, not with a red one, saying

    just one word......UNFORTUNATELY.

Stars from 1 - 4 should be removed and 5 stars replaced with Thumb up. We don't need any Thumb down, a good foto earns Thumbs up, bad photos, if we have those,

    deserve nothing !

How to convert todays stars to tomorrows thumbs......well, that's a new job  for MT's system engineers and programmers.

Have a nice day there in Canada, we have a rainy evening, I'm on my summer cottage and Sauna is warming up.

I'll be back in two hours.

    Regards Tero

    Red banner again

I tried to vote Jack Ronalds photo.

    https://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/showphoto.aspx?photoid=2756967

The time was  around 00.55 in Finland ( same in Athens )

MT once asked me to mark the time and the photo ( if I get the red banner)

I hope that this info can help You to tell me the reason for the red banner.

    Dear Tero,

    Thank you for your notification.

I looked into the picture you mentioned and I was able to vote for it with five stars.

We did have a temporary glitch with our system affecting photos in general for about two days, but it has now been resolved.

Would you please be kind enough to try voting for it again and let me know if it worked?

    Thank you in advance.
    Awaiting your future response.

    Kind regards,
