No report Update on ship position for the last 24 hours
Hi guys ,
seems you have issues with updating the ships` position for the last 24/7
Please have a look & fix it
Ship IMO9457608
thanks

Hello Reni,
Thank you for your interest in MarineTraffic.
As far as I can see, the last position received for the mentioned ship was on 2017-09-07 06:51 UTC.
There are various reasons why a ship is not visible on our Live Map. For more information, please check the article bellow:
Since the last status reported for this ship is "At Anchor", the reason why its position is not updated can be the fact that the AIS transponder is now turned off.
I remain at your disposal for any further assistance.
Best regards,
-
Hi MarineTraffic,
But what about this one https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:281784/mmsi:247324600/vessel:VOS%20PRUDENCE
The vessel is, according to competing service, in the port of Catania, Italy... and has been so since at least Sept 07, 2017 8:10 UTC.
I'm about to don my tinfoil hat on that one :)
Thank you and best regrds,
Janis

Dear MarineTraffic,
I hope you are not ignoring this (and will not simply "stonewall" me) :)
"But what about this one https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:281784/mmsi:247324600/vessel:VOS%20PRUDENCE
The vessel is, according to competing service, in the port of Catania, Italy... and has been so since at least Sept 07, 2017 8:10 UTC."
I see the following issues:
1. "Live Map" shows, for more than 4 days now, what I believe to be "fake" (implausible, not verifiable via other services) last speed value;
2. The vessel appears to have "vanished" close to the coast, within the range of, I believe, at least two other stations in addition to the https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/stations/2023/_:39cfcb9028053f287f04a83e461568d0, which has apparently reported the "fake" speed. Namely, https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/stations/3388/_:39cfcb9028053f287f04a83e461568d0 and https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/stations/1957/_:39cfcb9028053f287f04a83e461568d0, the later of which, if the coverage map is to be trusted, should have good if not excellent coverage of port of Catania.
3. Finally, the vessel appears on your service as to have never arrived at the port of Catania https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/index/port_moves/all/_:39cfcb9028053f287f04a83e461568d0/port:525/portname:CATANIA/shipid:281784/mmsi:247324600/shipname:VOS%20PRUDENCE on or after September 07, even though, according to the competing service, it has remained there since September 7, 8:10 UTC, and is periodically reporting itself - last time as recently as September 11, 2017 13:58 UTC
Plenty of issues to explore and explain, in other words - all of them relating to the very integrity of the data, service and company...
How is this even possible...?!
Thank you and best regards,
Janis -
Dear Janis,
Thank you for your detailed message.
I have escalated this case and passed it over to our competent department.
It will be addressed as soon as possible.
I will keep you updated.
I hope that if, in the meantime, there is anything else I can do for you, you won't hesitate to let me know.Best regards,

Thank you, Thalia :)
What I actually wanted (and still want) to do is - create a playback of all vessels docking at Catania between about September 1st 0:00 UTC and September 4th 8:00 UTC. Will MarineTraffic be in a position to assure publicly that the information on vessel arrivals at Catania between about September 1st 0:00 UTC and September 4th 8:00 UTC is correct..?
I have created a fleet for this purpose https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/index/fleet/all/fleet_id:1186804/_:39cfcb9028053f287f04a83e461568d0
Thank you and best regards,
Janis -
Dear Janis,
Playback is a unique feature that enables you to replay all vessel activity in a specific area at a given time in the past. Designed to support incident review, pattern analysis media reports, regatta racing observation and any application based on historical tracking data.
It is still in Beta version and the available options are some standard areas, your Fleet and selected vessels.
Selecting the area you want is not available as an option yet.
I remain at your disposal for any further needs you may have.
Best regards,

No, no - sorry about the confusing description of issue.
My concern is about the reliability of arrival data for Catania... After the issue with "Vos Prudence" is resolved/explained, can I be certain that there are no other "missing" ship arrivals for Catania, for the time period of September 1st, 0:00 UTC to September 4th, 8:00 UTC?
I see 31 arrivals, 22 vessels at Catania Arrivals&Departures query here https://goo.gl/JjRb4R, and it would be nice if you guys could... I don't know... "look at Catania" and say: no, we don't see any other issues/"missing" vessels in September?
The visualisation of data is fine, and even if not ideally suited for what I want to do, I can work around the limitations. The playback allows me to visualise the movements of custom fleet for the length of 2h: https://youtu.be/ovwA60BCo2o. After that, it's just a matter of repositioning the map and zoom, and, after taking and stitching ~40 such videos, I should have visualisation I want.
Being able to visualise more that 2h at once or not having to "refocus" the viewport (being able to freeze map position and zoom) would be nice, but it's not a show-stopper. Not being certain if I really have all vessel arrivals is...
Thank you and best regards,
Janis -
Why is it, MarineTraffic, that the LiveMap/Vessel Details "Latest Position" data is oft NOT (visible) in "latest AIS positions tracking" list for a vessel:
and, sometimes, like in the case of VosPrudence above, the data displayed on LiveMap/VesselDetails NEVER even shows up "Latest Positions"..?
I struggle to think of a rationale for something so confusing, irritating and (to an uninitiated) dodgy looking... do you have it explained somewhere?
Thank you and best regards,
Janis -
And, tada - no 11:03 UTC position!
How... how is this an accurate description of what you are doing with the data?!
*OhMyGod*, MarineTraffic :)
cheers
Janis -
Ok, dear MarineTraffic
I gather from this fruitless exercise that you:
1) will not fix, much less explain the problem with "vanishing" VosPrudence;
2) can't give any assurances that there are no similar problems with registering arrival of other ships at Catania between September 1st and 3rd;
3) will not explain what on earth are you doing with the data, why...But, I guess, at least you'll debit the payment punctually.
Noice, isn't it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpGb98vgvBY
Best regards,
