    Dear Stuart,

Thank you for contacting MarineTraffic Support.
It looks that you have an old version of the MarineTraffic app, which has been deprecated since 2012.

Unfortunately, this app cannot be updated to the latest version.
You can get started with the updated version of MarineTraffic mobile app for iOS devices here:

    I remain at your disposal.

    Best regards,

    Hi Riza

    Thanks for your reply.

Just to be clear, you are saying I have to pay for the app again, even though I have already paid for it a few years ago?

    That doesn't seem right.

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Dear Stuart,

I am sorry but I have to disappoint you on this matter.

Unfortunately, Apple does not allow us access, in order to support our previous applications. That is why the latest version was launched as a new app and not as a free update.
You can get started with the updated version here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/marinetraffic/id563910324
I ensure you that from now on you will be able to take the updates for free.

Apologies for the inconvenience you may have experienced.

I remain at your disposal for any questions or clarifications.

    Best regards,

    Hi Riza

Yes that is disappointing. It's strange because if I look at the app version history on the app store today, it shows a full version down to 2.1.0 5 years ago, therefore I'm not clear were the break in the version chain has happened.  If it was a new app then I wouldn't expect to see this version history and I would expect the app to have a new name.

I will contact Apple on the matter to get their view on it.

Can you offer refunds on the amount I paid for the original app?

    Thanks

    Stuart

    Dear Stuart,

Our MarineTraffic ship positions app for iOS is provided for purchase through the App Store, with an Apple ID, as the payments are processed through Apple.

Unfortunately, we have no access to those payments and, as such, we cannot know which of our users have purchased our App.
My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Issues related to (re)downloading the app or to app refund requests need to be handled by Apple.

I have managed to locate the following information that may facilitate your communication with them.

    For iOS:
