General Posting Guidelines
PinnedWe are a platform that really depends on crowdsourcing and we truly value all contributions to our site and encourage everyone to use these forums to interact with all users in the different sections. Keeping in mind that the Communities are common areas, if you choose to express your ideas here, we ask that you:
1. Keep the posts relevant.
The “Feature Suggestions / Product Feedback” is a space where you can suggest a feature that you would like to see in MarineTraffic or discuss one that has already been created. Please take a look at our other topics if you feel like this is not the one for your post.
2. Try to search for a post first to make sure that your ideas have not already been discussed.
There is a very good chance that your issue or concern has already been addressed on our forums before, so please use the forum’s search bar first to find out if there are already some relevant threads to the subject.
3. Use Topic Titles that reflect your request and be descriptive in your post.
Start with a descriptive topic name that gives a general idea of what is to follow. Please avoid using the topic title to get the attention by using titles such as “Help Me” or “Read this message!”. If you are posting about an issue, you should be trying to provide as much detail as possible in the main post, so the other members can understand an issue that themselves are not experiencing but will regardless try to help you.
4. Do not cross-post questions.
Please refrain from posting the same question on several different topics. There should be one topic which is most suitable in which to post your question. Additionally, you should also avoid posting the same message twice on one topic.
5. Make sure that your post is not Spam, Advertising or Self-promoting.
Spam messages are defined as an unsolicited advertisement for goods, services and/or other websites, or posts with little, or completely unrelated content. Do not spam the topics with links to your site or product, or try to self-promote your website, business or forums etc.
6. Do not post “offensive” material of any kind (posts, links or images).
Any material which constitutes defamation, harassment, or abuse is strictly prohibited. Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene, racist, or otherwise overly discriminatory is not permitted in our community and will be removed.
7. Remain respectful of moderators and other members at all times.
All posts should be professional and all community members should be addressed with kindness. You have every right to disagree with your fellow community members and explain your perspective. However, you should refrain yourself from personally attacking, degrading, insulting or otherwise belittling them or the quality of this community. Be patient, help people out by posting good descriptions of what you need help with.
