Vessels Positions API Services are leaving behind the past!
2018 is the year that the vessels positions API services are leaving behind the older versions.
More specifically the API services PS02 - PS06 (previously known as API service #27) are turning page. All versions 1-7 will be deprecated. The plan is to migrate all our users by the end of the year to the latest version, version 8.
Why is this change taking place?
- Improve usability and quality of our API services. Moreover, make available to our users more information and data intelligence.
How to migrate to the latest version:
- Add the URL parameter v:8

[MarineTraffic]URGENT - API service deprecation on 2018/06/01
Hello MarineTraffic User,
It is time for you to experience our newest and improved version of one of our most popular API services.
Most of you know it as API service #27.
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve usability, we have re-categorized our API services so that they more closely match their function. The result of this change is that Service #27 becomes:
· PS02 - Vessel Positions
https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais-api-services/detail/ps02/vessel-positions/
· PS03 - Vessel Positions of a MarineTraffic Fleet
· PS04 - Vessel Positions within a Port

· PS05 - Vessel Positions in a Predefined Area

· PS06 - Vessel Positions in a Custom Area

To ensure the continued stability of and functionality of our API services, all older versions will stop being supported by 2018/06/01.
Why migrate to the latest version?
· Receive more data fields which means extra information at the same price.
(Data fields available in the documentation section: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais-api-services/documentation/)
How to migrate to the latest versions?
· Add the URL parameter /v:8/ to the API call (or replace the current ‘v:value’ in your API calls)
