    Dear Kenneth,

    Thank you for contacting us.

May I ask if you have updated the AIS transponder with the new name?

If so, I would suggest you wait until we receive a couple of positions from your part. Then the record will automatically been updated in our database.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Hello Andre,

    Thank you for contacting MarienTraffic.

From my understanding you are referring to the Flag details shown in vessel details page. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I would like to inform you that vessel's flag is deducted from the reported MMSI of each vessel.
You can find more information here:
    https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en-us/articles/205220087-Which-way-is-information-on-a-vessel-s-flag-found-

    https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en-us/articles/215699608-MIDs-Countries-and-Flags-full-table-

Further to that, in order for you to upload your vessel photos please go here:
    http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/photos/upload

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I will be happy to assist you with any further needs you may have.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

The sailing vessel "GERADIENA" MMSI 277472000 has changed name to "GURUNI".

Is it possible for you to change this in the nearby future?

    Hello Vytautas,

Thank you for bringing this up.

Please note that our system relies on AIS Protocol, meaning that, in order to update a vessel's name, we need to receive a few signals from her AIS transponder or VHF device with the new name.

Once we receive a few AIS signals from her with the new name, this information will be automatically updated in MarineTraffic.

I hope this clarifies your question. If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Hi

    Thank you Aline.

I updated vessel name in my GARMIN AIS500 - now is GURUNI.

After I turned AIS several times for few hours but I can't see any updates in marinetraffic service. I see only last records with previous name GERADIENA.

    What could be wrong?

    Best regards,

    Hello again Vytautas,

    Thank you for your update.

In order for her name and any other AIS-transmitted data to be updated in MarineTraffic, we must receive a few signals from her with the new details.

As you know, we have not received positions from her since 23 September. There are several factors that may influence whether or not a vessel's AIS transponder signals will be collected by our coastal stations or satellite constellation. Amongst those factors, there is the weather conditions, coastal coverage in the area where the vessel has been sailing (if there are stations of ours in the area), signals strength, etc. We explain this in more details here:

    https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en-us/articles/203990958-Why-cannot-I-see-a-vessel-on-the-Live-Map

Further, we have never received a position from her via satellite, which may occur if the vessel is carrying a Class-B AIS transponder, since there is a chance it will not be picked up easily by the satellite constellation due to the weak transmission power of this equipment class.

For this reason, you may consider displaying our coastal stations on the Live Map, so that you may see where there are higher chances we will receive her signals. This article will help you further:

    https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en-us/articles/205283547-Display-AIS-receiving-Stations-on-the-Live-Map

    I hope this helps.

Should you need anything else, please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Dear all

We allow ourselves to intervene in your conversation ...

    Dear Vytautas Vaitkus

You write on the 03-11-2020 that you turned your AIS-transponder several times for few hours

We think that it is no so good… it must be we think better to let the AIS-transponder “ON” for some days and not for a few hours…

    Best regards out Belgium

    Dear Marc,

We really appreciate you sharing the above. Indeed, keeping the AIS transponder ON is the best practice whereas turning it ON and OFF several times may not allow us to properly collect the signals.

    Thank you,

    Dear Marine Traffic

    Dear Mark

Thank you for information. Yesterday I had a first trip with boat this year. Hurra - I see that my MMSI with GURUNI name was tracked in Marine Traffic - so AIS is working well.

    Thank you for support.

    Best regards,
