    Dear Sayali,

    Thank you for waiting.

I have an update on this issue I would like to share with you.

In the transponder settings of the vessel we were discussing about, Barbouny, there was a misspelling in the Reported Destination. The misspelling was Suze, standing for the Suez Canal.

As mentioned previously, our system is designed to match the Reported Destination field with the available ports in our Database and, as such, it displayed an incorrect destination.

It is inadvisable to manually alter the Destination and ETA fields of a vessel, in order to avoid any mishaps with our automated system, and so the specific reported destination could not be changed.

However, we are working on enabling our system to try and correct this misspellings in the future, but it is possible this issue will always remain, as neither we nor the system are in a position to predict all possible misspellings.

Should you ever notice anything similar, however, we would most greatly appreciate it if you could let us know, as it would help us improve our system in this regard.
Thank you in advance for any future assistance.

If you need anything else, I hope that you won't hesitate to let us know.
We will be happy to assist.

    Kind regards,

    Dear Sayali,

Thank you for contacting MarineTraffic Support and for bringing this up.

All position and static information displayed in our website are provided by the vessels' transponders, including destinations and ETA. Our system is designed to match a reported destination with the closes port to Match that destination. I have checked Barbouny, MMSI - 511082000, and I have noticed that the reported destination in the transponder is SUZE CANAL, instead of Suez Canal. I have attached a screenshot for this below.

Nevertheless, I have escalated this ticket and passed it over to our competent department, in order for us to see if we can exclude a misspelling of the type to correspond to Suez Canal.
I will keep you informed on any updates.

I hope that if, in the meantime, there is anything else I can do for you, you won't hesitate to let me know.

I will be happy to assist.

    Kind regards,

Hi, Once again the port name and destination given is wrong, Dbaiyeh [LB] instead of Al hudaidah [YE]. And also the position of the ship hasn't been updated for over 3 days, but on the other app position is updated frequently. It would be great if you could help with this.

    Dear Sayali,

    Thank you for your response.

I looked into what you mentioned, and I escalated this request to our competent department as well, where it will be addressed as soon as possible.

I will keep you informed on any updates.

As for Barbouny's positions, from what I can see, her latest positions was received 4 hours ago (2017-04-20 07:34 (UTC)) via satellite.

While all MarineTraffic users have access to positions recorded by our network of terrestrial stations, when you do not see updated positions and/or get the message "out of range", then the vessel is far away from terrestrial stations and can only be tracked via satellite. This is only available to subscribers of our satellite plans or Sat Add-ons.

You can check our available plans here:
    http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/p/plans

In order to get undelayed positions and track only one vessel via satellite, you may consider the option below:
    Go to:
    https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/users/my_account/users/fleet
and under the "extensions" tab, buy the "Satellite Add-on" and activate the "SAT" button for the vessel you're interested in.

This article will help you further:

If there is anything else you might need in the meantime, I hope that you will not hesitate to let me know.
I will be happy to assist.

    Kind regards,

Hi, sorry to be bugging again but why is the ship not mentioned in any of the arrival lists of the port?

    Dear Sayali,

Thank you for your swift response.

From what I was able to see, her past track indicates that she, in fact, never visited the port that was in the reported destination of her ETA.

Please also note that her last reported ETA was received on 2017-04-21 21:33 LT (UTC +3), which means that it has not been updated yet, as she still reports the same destination and ETA.

I have attached a few screenshots, for your convenience.

Should you need anything else, I hope that you will not hesitate to let us know.
We will be happy to assist.

    Kind regards,
