Dear Alma,
Thank you for your post!
Kindly be advised that, MarineTraffic relies on the AIS protocol to receive and provide vessel related info and positions to our users.
At the moment, the dimensions that appear for that vessel, are the dimensions that have been entered into the settings of her transponder. Therefore, the information you see is the information that the vessel is transmitting.
This means that in order to change the dimensions of the vessel, the vessel owners or crew will need to update the vessel's transponder settings with the new details. Afterwards, since we need to receive both static signals and positions from the vessel, the transponder will need to be kept active for a couple of days, so as for it to be transmitting the signals. As long as the vessel is transmitting her signals within our Terrestrial AIS coverage, once our antennae collect the necessary amount of signals and positions, the new details will be automatically updated in our database.
I hope this information helps! For any other questions, let me know.
