Delay between uploads and publishing
AnsweredEarlier the delay between uploading and publishing a photo was only some minutes, sometimes less. And somewhere, don't find where here at support, was told
that there is some moderating with photos and that really is a good thing…….another question is, that does it work.
Now I'm wondering the loooooong delay time: I uploaded some 18 hours ago 5 photos, reaching the upload limits for those ships. The number of my photos grew
also with the same digits, but the photos are somewhere in the data base but are not visible.
If exist so what is the average moderating time for photos and what are the criterions nowadays ?

@Demitris
My observation suggests 72 hours before they reach "Photos by [Photographer]" unless you have changed this within the last 48 hours! I can find my own uploads if I search by ship, but not when I look at all of my photos..

Hi Demitris
You are talking about 24 hours, Malcolm suggests 72 hours. Now it is 45 hours since my uploads and still no-show ! I know You are receiving hundreds, maybe thousands of photos a day and moderators
have a hard work to do…..so maybe it is that 72 hours.
And that is not nice !

it would be nice to have some kind of simple log showing the pictures you have uploaded and the status
ex <date>, <time>, <picture name>,< upload result>, <publish status>
2013-12-10 18.00.00, pic022.jpg, uploade, publised
2013-12-11 13.23.00, pic034.jpg, uploade, publised
2013-12-13 18.00.00, pic044.jpg, uploade, rejected
2013-12-14 12.43.00, pic045.jpg, uploade, processing

It seems that any delay for moderation will not stop some of the uploads that should be rejected:
Here are recent examples. Perhaps no moderation is done on the weekend.

http://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/showphoto.aspx?photoid=1573629&size=1600 (sideways picture)
http://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/showphoto.aspx?photoid=1573458&size=1600 (simply a screen shot)

Are the number of rejections so high that the 48-hour publication delay is an effective means of controlling bad uploads?

Malcolm
