app stopped tracking boat

My husband is fisherman en route from Seattle to akutan, alaska. The app stopped tracking the boat near Vancouver island.  He sent me a text on his sat phone with a GPS coordinate  that placed the boat half way to alaska-long way away from where this app has the boat.  Why did it stop tracking? He confirmed all is working fine in the wheelhouse. FV Dominator.

  Your husband's boat needs to be within receiving distance of an Operator Station that can pick up the signal from the boat's AIS Transponder.  Based on the last signal received at 2015-01-15 01:34, I would say your husband is well out to sea away from a land base station.
