As owner of Station 589, I have seen rapid and continual growth in the MT family of Stations. I have spent considerable time encouraging the opening of new Stations where coverage is spotty or doesnt exist. This with some success and a lot of failure. Most think I am trying to sell them something. However, I realize a key to MT success is having base stations On the Air, Numerous, and in the right places.
I have often wished to be able to communicate with my fellow Station Operators. Many Operators do not participate in the forums per se, but would be willing to communicate with another Station Operator given the opportunity. Sometimes there are clues in the station information which can help to identify a station or lead to a website where contact can be made. In every case, I have found the Operator more than willing to respond and some good technical bridges have been formed.
My request is that for Member Stations, they be allowed to send Email to other Station Operators without the email address of the addressee being known to the Sender. If the receiving addee chooses not to reply, so be it and they remain anonymous. Many forums use this Private Message or PM for this purpose. I would think restricting this to Base Station Operators and not the general MT log on would be appropriate. Realize this is another level of effort by MT, but with 1500 Stations, and many not choosing to participate, it would probably not be a too big an effort for MT to add and maintain.
