Hello Matthew and thank you for contacting us.
I understand the issue you brought to our attention will be glad to assist you with this.

Kindly note that it is possible to contact any photographer that has uploaded photos in the MarineTraffic database by selecting their photo and clicking on the Contact the Photographer option.

Alternatively, kindly advise on your vessel's MMSI number, so that we can check this for you.
Please note that, should you wish, you can continue our communication via email at customersupport@mairnetraffic.com

Thank you in advance for your reply.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind Regards,

Demitris, as this topic has been discussed often in these forums could you comment on a possible solution?  Also, as discussed, the voting system requires an overhaul.  We do presume these items are being reviewed but it would be helpfull to know what, if and when a solution could be expected.

Hello everyone, I would like to inform you that the edit-my-Photos feature will be available soon .

Additionally, we are working on some different approaches on the delete-my-Photos feature and we may modify  in order to improve it.

    Stay tuned!

    Best Regards,

    Chris Mantzouranis

    Hi Ian,

It doesn't work the way you describe.  Each registered photographer (you must be logged in) is permitted to upload 5 photos (within the size guidelines of no more than 8MB each) for any vessel within a six month period.  What other photographers do has no bearing on your photos uploads.

Can you provide specific examples?  What ship? What is your photo size in pixels and MB?  What error do you receive?  Are you able to attach a screen image of your upload screen?

    regards,

    Malcolm

Good to see some of these recent changes.  Too bad it wasn't all tested before release.  I will submit bug reports.

    Hi Agnes,

You haven't provided any specific details here.  There can be more than one vessel with the same name.  Be sure the one you are looking at refers to your yacht by IMO or MMSI number.  You can't actually delete the photo of another but you can request its removal for valid reasons.

I suggest you write to MT support by clicking on Submit a Request (at the top of page) and explain the situation providing enough details to verify who you are and your vessel's identification.  It might be first helpful if you actually upload a photo of your yacht to show that what you say is true.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your answer

There is only one sailing wessel with name Panacea and Swedish flag .MMsi number ok, but the photo is an other 3 ft bigger Najad, which I know well. You can see on the hull the name HokusPokus.

I do not find "Submit a Request".

Agnes -- you will find the SUBMIT A REQUEST link near the very top of your browser window.  See my attached image sample.

Send your request along with the page link (below)  to your vessel and explain what you have said here. You could also click on Suggest Photo Removal but this appears to get low priority and doesn't allow an explanation.

As it is the weekend, it might take a couple days.

I have had clarification from MT support on when you can edit or delete one of your own photos uploaded to MT.

    The restrictions are as follow:

    - delete photo only if vote counter < 5

    - edit photo (ship name & ship mmsi ) only if newer than 2 weeks

You will see one or two icons over each photo in My Account > Photos Uploaded (see attachment)

Although progress has been made on this feature, it doesn't answer as to why MT need to stop you from deleting your own photos if you choose.  It is not like it is an easy process in any event if you have lots of photos, but I know the serious photographers here are the more likely ones to want to remove incorrect or lower quality photos from their own gallery.

In any event if you need or want to have any of your own photos deleted and are unable to, I suggest you simply SUBMIT A REQUEST along the very top of the page along with the required details.

Recognize that the  "Suggest Photo Removal" on any photo doesn't appear to accomplish anything since there is no ability to provide a reason for the request and these requests appear to be ignored by MT.

I still don't see the option to delete on my photos.  I have also loaded 2 photos of one vessel and they have appeared on two vessel pages.  The owner of the incorrect boat has asked they are removed, a reasonable request, but I can't help him out.  Where is this delete icon?

    Thanks

Actually this isn't really done.  As I recently pointed out there are still restrictions in place for photographers to delete their own photos.

Without further explanation from MT support as to the reasons WHY, the restrictions are as follow:

    - delete photo only if vote counter < 5

    - edit photo (ship name & ship mmsi ) only if newer than 2 weeks

George -- you have three options.

If the photo contains identifiable people or is a copyright infraction, you can click on SUBMIT A REQUEST to submit a support ticket to MT staff.  Outline the valid reasons that the photo should be removed along with supporting evidence.  This won't necessarily happen quickly.

You could also click on "Contact the Photographer" by clicking on that button when viewing the photo, and make your polite request to the photographer who posted the photo. No guarantee.

You could post details about the specific photo along with supporting evidence why the photo should be removed.  If a couple moderators see your post and agree with you the photo might be removed.

    Good luck.

Frans -- The feature to delete your own photos (within some limitations) is already available to you.

Click the login icon at the top right corner and make sure you are logged in.

Click on My Account or click here: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/users/my_account/

Click on **Photos uploaded **or click directly here: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/users/my_account/users/photos

As you move your mouse over each photo you will see additional photo details and also one or two icons in the top right corner of each photo.

A red X icon (if present) allows you delete your photo.  A blue edit icon allows you to make some edits to the detail (but not the photo).

There are restrictions in place (only MT knows why):

    • delete photo only if vote counter < 5
    • edit photo (ship name & ship mmsi ) only if uploaded less than 2 weeks ago

    Hope this helps.

Some random individual has uploaded photos of my yacht that I do not want online. It is creepy and I feel my privacy has been violated especially as I live aboard and I do not want these photos online. The "photographer" refuses to remove his photos. Why am I not able to police what pictures of my yacht are online?

I agree with Matthew.  When a photo of a private yacht is published against the wishes of the owner Marine Traffic should contact the photographer requesting they delete these photos.  If the photographer refuses then MT should delete them and advise the photographer as to why.  There is a law against publishing photos of a person without permission but not of personal property.  However, there is reason for a publisher to take action if requested for individual privacy concerns.
