Again today I activated the Self Report. Within a couple minutes I received the Email from MT that I was reporting. I watched the map for approximately 20 minutes and my boat was not indicated on the map, I then went to Vessels and pulled up my boat. I did this to see if my boat was being put on the map however not in the right location. The Vessels information indicated that my boat had not been seen since 2016-5-21. Im sending this information to give you additional details. Thanks for looking into this for me. Im a long time MT Station operator of Station 589. I think the self reporting app is great.

    Good Evening

I have also had the same problem today. My boat has class B AIS and been correctly picked up by your stations as recently as a fortnight ago. I have also used mAIS and seen my position correctly recorded.

Today I was in an area not covered by your stations so turned on mAIS. Had a message "Position reporting is active for vessel with MMSI number 235067723" but I did not show up on the map

Have I messed up or has something fallen over your end?

Hi, I have the same problem to report. Have been sending self report with several restarts and no error messages for three weeks and no update on chart, still shows last years position. Also have a friend with the same problem, he got it working for a short time after contact with support, now back to not updating and showing old position data. MMSI 265694880, friends MMSI 912651551.

    Dear All,

    Thank you for commenting here.
As can be seen in other posts as well, the App itself is in fully working order. It is our processing of positions that creates this inconvenience.
This can be a recurring issue as we are working on refining the positions quality through blocking the ones that correspond to land and not sea coordinates, which can be a result of both bad transmission and mistaken limits set on our side.
This might take some time for us but, eventually, it will result in keeping the level of service as high as possible.
If this is not the case, for any of you, I will personally contact you in order to resolve this separately.
We do appreciate your understanding and thank you for your valuable feedback.

    Chris,
I am happy to advise that my Self Report has started to place my boat on the map as of a few hours ago. I will check it again when visiting my boat tomorrow; however, I believe this issue is resolved at least with regard to my vessel. If this has anything to do with your efforts, I thank you very much. Your explanation of efforts to filter out reports which are from other than "at sea locations" makes much sense to me. With self report I have seen boats moving up our interstate highways at 150 kmh far from any water. Obviously a boater who forgot to turn his app off. Regards, George Gore, MT Station 589.

    Hi Chris

Thank you for responding, your answer fits my situation. I noticed before that we came off the River Thames into Bow Creek the reporting stopped a short way up Bow Creek but mistakenly thought this may be due to using class B AIS and being out of range. I then tried mAIS in the semi-tidal and non tidal waterways round the Olympic Park and that is when I saw that my position was not showing up and I now know that it is because it is inland.

It would be great if Bow Creek and the Inland Waterways up to and round the Olympic Park could be covered, is that possible? Please get in touch with me if a marked up map would help

    Hello everybody,

    Thank you for your replies.
Yes, we are into refining this whole process.
It will definitely take some time, but, as George mentioned, people often forget their devices transmitting.
This will help in raising the standard of the service, as a whole.

I think my reporting is having this problem too, it worked briefly but has stopped again, I do get emails telling me it's reporting. Been trying to track my boat using mAIS on the Grand Union canal in and around London, UK
