    Hello Robert,

    Thank you for your post.

Would you be kind enough to provide us with a specific example of a vessel that you have detected this inconsistency?

Some screenshot showing the differentiation in positions for different zoom levels would be utmost of help as well.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

Here are a couple of screen shots taken of the ships Polarlys and Saga Pearl II, in the port of Molde in Norway. I toggled backwards and forwards between them and the ships appear to change position each time. Hope this helps.

    Hello Robert,

Thank you for the additional information.

Unfortunately I am not in a position to reproduce this case since there are updated positions for both POLARLYS and SAGA PEARL II since the time you sent this screenshot.

Would you please be kind enough to try clearing the cache and cookies of your Browser? Here are some guides to walk you through:
    http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache
    http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cookies
If you are still facing issues after that, please try a different browser? That’ll help me rule in/out the browser as the suspect here.

Thank you, in advance, for your reply.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

The previous screen shots were taken using Firefox. I have just looked using IE, which I have never used before for MarineTraffic and so will have no cache or cookies set, and find the same problem. It looks as if some zoom levels show an earlier ship position and some zoom levels a later ship position.

    Hello Robert,

    Thank you for your response.
May I please ask for a specific example since there are updated positions for the above vessels?

    Best regards,

Here are a couple of screen shots using IE, of the ship Lofoten. When one zooms, one scale shows the position 1 minute ago, while another scale shows the position 3 minutes ago. I would have expected both scales to have shown the most recent position. It happens in both Firefox and IE, so I don't think it is a specific browser problem.

    Hello Robert,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I managed to reproduce the case you are describing.

We are already working on resolving this. I will keep you updated.

In the meantime, I hope that, if there is anything else I can do for you, you won't hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards,

    Hello again Robert,

I am aware that some months have passed since your report and I am really sorry for this delay from our part.

The issue you are describing is design-related since each zoom level has a different caching policy.

Thus, in each zoom level, the positions may differ as the caching frequency is not the same.

I hope that the above helps you understand the way our system is designed.

I remain at your disposal for any questions you may have.

    Kind regards,
