Hi. This mAIS screen shown here: http://webn.eu/l/x0lqb , I don't find? Where is this? And about the boat, I fill all data correctly, but have the same 912120000 MMSI like "jungblut" got?! When I search for this MMSI I always get a list of the same 4 boats from Cyprus... but not the name of boat I regster? Is there any more documentation about how to get a uniq MMSI for mAIS with OnCourse? Thanks for support, Chris

    Hello Chris and Marc,

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.

Our technical team is already working on this.

In addition, as I have confirmed four records are listed when searching for the MMSI 912120000, I have also provided this information to our competent team to contribute to the investigation.

Dear Chris, since I could not find the name "jungblut", may I ask you to provide me with the url link of the vessel or a screenshot as the one above? This information may be helpful to our investigation.

    Thank you,

    Thanks for response.

I will start with clearing some misunderstood:
    1. with "jungblut" I refer to the initiator/starter of this thread: "Christian jungblut"... the boat I want to register is "=AD=USUM="
    2. I don't know any restriction for the name of a ship, the correct writing of the name of my boat is "=AD=USUM+", but somewhere I have to delete the "=" character, so I have to write "AD USUM" (but it is not the boat with MMSI: 244780113 !)
    3. at the moment I configure my boat at the App with the MMSI 912120001... I decide this on myself, but it will not register at MarineTraffic, because at the moment I'm playing with the App at home... I'm at the boat in 3 days on saturday... I will check if I can register then

some thinking I make to the APP:
    1. at the protocol of MMSI, is there a special range defined for private/experimental numbering? if not, your App has to transfer a new generated number directly to you system, to prevent duplicates!
    2. most of interested user will check the functionality of your App in front of the TV at home... before they go sailing... you should enable the registration or reservation from a place on dry land to check if MMSI is in use at your system
    3. you should have a filter with this you delete all this testing units from the LiveMap. the mAIS devices should only shown on map, when they are moving on water or the last possible position (e.g. at harbor when the device leaves in pocket of the captain the boat) and you should delete all you mAIS from you database after 24 months, so you delete all the hobby skippers who use this tool only for their holiday trip an keep you database clean and relevant

    Thanks for support.

    Hello Chris,

Thank you for your clarifications and suggestions. Your interest regarding this matter is most appreciated.

Please note that mAIS has been replaced by our OnCourse app. Instructions on how to register a vessel through OnCourse are available here:

    https://help.marinetraffic.com/hc/en-us/articles/224265348-Get-Started

As described in the above article, if your vessel does not have a MMSI number, the MMSI field should be left black so as for us to attribute a proprietary MMSI to you. Meaning you should not enter a number unless it is your vessel's official MMSI. Please note that the number we provide is not an official MMSI, but just an identifier used exclusively in MarineTraffic.

With regards to the name of your vessel, since MarineTraffic is a global ship tracking that mostly relies on AIS-transmitted data, our system does not support special characters that are derived from AIS signals (e.g. vessels name, dimensions, destination).

As mentioned, our technical team is already working on Mr. Christian Jungblut's case.

We will be more than glad to further investigate your case as well and provide any needed assistance. In order to do so, could you let me know if you remember the following details when registering your vessel through OnCourse, please?

    - left MMSI field blank
    - received and email from us informing which MMSI you could use for your reports

Also, could you provide mw with the details of your vessel (i.e. name, dimensions, type)?

Any additional  information/description you may provide us with will be most appreciated.

Many thanks for your contribution so far,

    hello

to define: everytime i write iais, i mean oncourse... ist shorter to write (and the appstore llink is ongoing ending iais)

as suggestion: your webmaster should allow to zoom this site!!! all wrong writing i do not see! because i'm sitting in the cockpit of the boa with tablet... all characters are less than 2mm high!

so i will start writing blind... :oD

now i read the manual and know some more about the app und you should enable tegistering af a boat fr om the couch at home! i'm still meaning many will check the app before they go sailing (like i've done)

when you want that captains/owners which have no mmsi leave the mmsi empty, you should no offer a default number.this could be the reason why 4 boats are registered with your given one. if there is no, noone woud device one... i think

so, the initial question thread ist ansered very easy: on the official way or after boat restering from marinetraffic, but first register the boat without mmsi. (or you implement a process to give the app a uniq number temporary, i wrote above)

on my side i can report that i change the number to the official and rename the boat correct that the database could work with. but the boat is not searchable by othe... they all need the sharing link the app is offering. and my boat is not addable to my fleet? this because the boat is not shown when i use boat number or mmsi. but this all i should ad to different/correct threads like feature suggestios and error reports...   ;oD

    thanks for support

    Hello again Chris,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share more details about your experience and how you believe our services could be improved.

Your ideas are most welcome, as your feedback plays an important role in our constant effort to improve our services.

Regarding the characters size, would you be kind enough to try the following steps and let me know how it goes?

    - on your tablet, please go to Menu-> Settings->Performance
    - and change the value of "Interface" to a bigger one to fit the screen

With regards to your vessel, could you let me know if the official number you are referring to is the MMSI accredited by a port authority?

Could you also share your MMSI with me so I may look further into what you have been facing to add her to your fleets?

    Best,
