    Hi Rory,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we really appreciate it.

I assume you are referring to this vessel record:

    https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:929031/mmsi:205414190/imo:7372141/vessel:PRESTIGE/

Would you be kind enough to provide me with a document or url link of official source of information that support the tanker has sunk?

    Thank you you advance!

    MarineTraffic

I confirm that there is a mistake with the liking of the see going vessel IMO 7372141 with the inland vessel ENI 6105034 Prestige MMSI 205414190

In the “vessel information “ screen, you can see status “decommissioned or lost” that’s concerning the vessel IMO 7372141

Vessel ENI 6105034 is still active

We think the error was made a time ago with the connection with Marine Connector – the two ships have the same name

We have seen this for other vessels before…

So vessel IMO 7372141 and ENI 6105034 are two different vessels

IMO 7372141 “Prestige” broke in two and sank on the northwest coast of Spain on 19th November 2002

    Best Regards

    Marc

    Hello Aline,

I do have some official documentation for support.

Please refer to the below link from the Bahamas Maritime Authority, which is the Port State Control for the Bahamas, on the sinking of the MV Prestige.

    https://www.bahamasmaritime.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Prestige.pdf

On page 88 (page 92 for the PDF) provides the vessel particulars.

The MV Prestige was a major disaster and there are multiple news and government reports on the sinking. Given that the ship was a Bahamas flagged vessel, I would consider the report from their PCS to be a credible source.

    Thanks You
