    Hello Andrew,

    Thank you for your post.

Please be kindly informed that after a generic proximity between two vessels is identified, the following conditions are used to record an STS event:

    • Both vessels are either Tankers or of one of the following types (when not tankers, both vessels must be of exactly the same type)
    • None of the Vessels is a Bunkering Barge
    • None of the Vessels is currently engaged in a Bunkering operation
    • DWT of both vessels is at least 7000t
    • Vessels are not in a Port
    • The distance between the two vessels is less than the length of the shortest one
    • The Lateral Distance between the two vessels is 0, indicating that the two vessels are side-by-side
    • The two vessels must have almost the same speed
    • When proper Course and Heading data is available, the two vessels must be aligned
    • All above conditions are confirmed twice, at least 10 minutes after the first event identification

At that point, I would like to note that upon checking the historical records I did not manage to find the recorded STS event related to EAGLE BALDER and KYRAKATINGO. As such we can conclude that some of the above criteria were not met and the event had not been registered.

I hope I was able to help you with your concern.

Please let us know if any further assistance or clarifications are needed.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Anastasiya

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Thank you for that details, In the case I think it will be the "Vessels are not in a Port" that will affect the ones here.

As many STSes are conducted in harbour limits I am surprised at this exclusion from the programming of the filter.

I would suggest an improvement such as this with a sub category of "show vessels in port":

And also a category for Shuttle tankers loading at oil fields ("Offshore shuttle tanker loading") I would suggest excluding from the STS filter "Vessel type - detailed"----"Floating storage production" and instead have this category where any tanker less than 0.5knots and close proximity (A ship's length or so) with a vessel that is "Floating storage production" , "Offshore structure" a "Navigation aid" type or a recognised location for an offshore loading oilfield.

    Many thanks
