Map of Risk Zones for Boats
2021 | II SEMESTRE
The map establishes four (4) types of areas, each identified with a specific color. Each color indicates the RISK CONDITION assigned to the area, according to reports and cases of Piracy / Armed Robbery received by affected vessels or the community:
███ LEVEL 1 | SAFE AREA: to identify that area that is considered SAFE for sailors, because there have been no reports of acts against vessels - Piracy / Armed Robbery - at least in the last twelve (12) months.
███ LEVEL 2 | RISK AREA: to identify that area where sailors could be involved in a RISK situation, due to the fact that there are at least two (2) reports, in a period of less than twelve (12) months, of acts against boats. This type of report does not indicate violent acts. Generally it is about theft of items in the open areas of the boats. Likewise, remote areas, with a short radio range or with indications of acts against vessels, could be identified in this way.
███ LEVEL 3 | HIGH RISK AREA: to identify the one where sailors could be involved in a HIGH RISK situation, due to the fact that there are at least two (2) reports, in a period of less than six (6) months, of violent acts against boats. This type of report indicates events such as: piracy / armed robbery, and access to internal areas of the vessels. Eventually minor injuries have been reported.
███ LEVEL 4 | DANGER ZONE: to identify the one where sailors could be involved in an imminent DANGER situation, due to the fact that there are at least two (2) reports, in a period of less than six (6) months, of violent acts in against boats. This type of report indicates events such as: piracy / armed robbery, and access to internal areas of the vessels. The use of firearms against them and their crew has been reported. Likewise, they will be identified in this way, when possible organized groups are suspected, which could cause this type of acts in the area. These are also reported as difficult to access and communicate for the authorities, in case of an emergency.
