    Dear David,

    Thank you for your comment,

The shipid of each vessel can be found at the URL of the vessel details page in our website. For example: https://www.marinetraffic.com/el/ais/details/ships/shipid:201720/mmsi:636092706/imo:9689574/vessel:NORDIC_NAVID

Also in case you have the IMO or MMSI you can use the VD03 API to retrieve the shipid, you can request the service here: https://www.marinetraffic.com/el/ais-api-services/detail/vd03/search-vessel/

The API EV01 can work using one of the vessel identifiers in the request. An example request for the Nordic Navid would be:

    /portcalls/{api_key}?v=4&timespan=2&shipid=201720&msgtype=simple&protocol=xml
    or
    /portcalls/{api_key}?v=4&timespan=2&mmsi=636092706&msgtype=simple&protocol=xml
    or
    /portcalls/{api_key}?v=4&timespan=2&imo=9689574&msgtype=simple&protocol=xml

If you are using the 'try it' section on the API documentation, please note that only the shipid is accepted as this tool is used as an example. However, the service outside of this example tool works as displayed in the technical documentation.
Please let us know if you have any further questions,
    Kind regard,
